Character Overbreeding – Delaying Second Job Change
Character What is Character Overbreeding? When your character reaches Job Level 40, you become eligible for the Second Job Change (Advanced Class, e.g., Fighter → Knight). However, if you delay the class change and continue gaining JP up to Job Level 50 (or even higher, depending on server), each additional Job Level beyond 40 gives you +5 Job Points (JP) per level (some sources say +2 extra JP; confirm in‑game). This means a character who waits until JLv 50 before changing will have approximately +10 to +50 extra JP compared to one who changes immediately. These extra JP allow you to max out more skills earlier. The maximum delay is usually until JLv 50 because the quest for second job change becomes unavailable after certain level? – but most guides recommend delaying until JLv 50 for optimal return.
Character Risks & Considerations While waiting, you cannot access the powerful Advanced Class skills. This makes leveling harder (you rely only on basic class skills). The extra JP may not be worth the struggle for casual players, but for min‑maxers, it is essential. On some servers, the second job change quest is available even after JLv 50, so you can delay even further (e.g., up to JLv 60). Check your server’s rules.
Pet Overbreeding – Delaying Pet Evolution
Pet (Stage 1→2) Overbreeding from Stage 1 to Stage 2 A pet at Stage 1 can evolve to Stage 2 when it reaches level 50. However, if you continue leveling it up to level 60 before evolving, each extra level from 51 to 60 grants 2 Job Points (JP) instead of the usual 1. This means an overbred pet that evolves at level 60 gains approximately +10 extra JP compared to a pet evolved at level 50. These extra JP can be spent on enhancing pet skills beyond normal limits. Additionally, overbred pets unlock exclusive passive skills not available to normally evolved pets.
Pet (Stage 2→3) Overbreeding from Stage 2 to Stage 3 Similarly, a Stage 2 pet can evolve to Stage 3 at level 100. By overbreeding up to level 115, each extra level from 101 to 115 gives 2 JP per level, resulting in up to +30 extra JP. The Stage 3 evolved overbred pet also gains unique skills (e.g., increased elemental resistance, special attack animations) and significantly higher stat scaling. The maximum overbreed level is 115; after that, you cannot evolve further.
Job Point Gain Comparison
Normal vs. Overbred JP Difference Table
Evolution StageNormal Level RangeOverbred Level RangeJP Gain Difference
Stage 1 → 21–50 (1 JP/level)1–60 (1 JP/level to 50, then 2 JP/level 51–60)+10 JP
Stage 2 → 31–100 (1 JP/level)1–115 (1 JP/level to 100, then 2 JP/level 101–115)+30 JP
TotalNormal: 150 JP | Overbred (max): 150 + 10 + 30 = 190 JP+40 JP

💡 With the extra JP, an overbred pet can max out 2–3 additional advanced skills, making it far superior in endgame content.

Exclusive Skills Only Available to Overbred Pets
OB Skills Pet Abilities Unlocked
  • “Enhanced Evolution” – Increases all base stats by 5% (Stage 2 overbred).
  • “Ancient Aura” – Grants party members +10% critical rate for 30 seconds (Stage 3 overbred, unlockable with JP).
  • “Unbreakable Will” – Reduces incoming damage by 15% for 20 seconds (Stage 3 overbred tank pets).
  • “Mana Font” – Regenerates 2% MP every 5 seconds for the master (Stage 3 overbred magical pets).
These skills are not available to pets evolved at the minimum level. They make overbred pets the only viable choice for high‑end raiding and PvP.

🔍 HOW TO IDENTIFY AN OVERBRED PET

  • Check the “Extra Level” indicator: In the pet’s status window, an overbred pet will show a small “OB” icon next to its level if it was overbred.
  • Compare JP spent vs. level: A normal pet evolved at exactly level 50 will have spent 50 JP total for its stage. An overbred pet evolved at level 60 will have spent 50 JP (for levels 1–50) + 20 JP (for levels 51–60 at 2 JP each) = 70 JP total, which is 20 JP more than normal.
  • Skill availability: Overbred pets have exclusive skills in their skill window that normal pets lack. If a pet has “Enhanced Evolution” or “Ancient Aura”, it is definitely overbred.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Overbreeding must be done before evolution. Once a pet is evolved, you cannot go back. Plan your pet’s leveling path in advance if you want a top‑tier companion.

📘 STEP‑BY‑STEP: HOW TO OVERBREED YOUR PET

  1. Raise your Stage 1 pet to level 50 normally (1 JP per level).
  2. Continue leveling the pet to level 60 – do NOT evolve yet. From level 51 onward, each level gives 2 JP.
  3. At level 60, evolve the pet to Stage 2 using the Creature Combination system (requires a second Stage 1 pet and a Soul Catalyst).
  4. Now raise your new Stage 2 pet to level 100 normally (1 JP per level).
  5. Continue leveling to level 115 – do NOT evolve. From level 101 onward, each level gives 2 JP.
  6. At level 115, evolve the pet to Stage 3 (requires a second Stage 2 pet and a Soul Catalyst).
  7. Enjoy your maximally powerful, overbred pet with +40 extra JP and exclusive skills.

💡 Patience is key. Overbreeding takes significantly longer (up to 15 extra levels per stage), but the final pet is incomparably stronger. Use the Creature Farm (Sonya’s Farm) and Animal Crackers to speed up leveling.

🧙 CHARACTER OVERBREEDING – QUICK EXAMPLE

A normal player reaches Job Level 40 and immediately takes the Second Job Change. They spend the next 10 Job Levels (40→50) without any extra benefit.

An overbreeding player waits to take the Second Job Change until they reach Job Level 50. Each level from 41 to 50 gives +5 extra JP (or +2 depending on server). They then take the class change. The result: +10 to +50 extra JP and access to stronger advanced skills earlier.

⚠️ Character overbreeding is not possible on all servers. Some servers force the class change at JLv 40 or give no bonus for waiting. Check with your server’s community before committing.
