Full Rappelz Epic Timeline › Epic 6.3 — Resurrection
Released 9 March 2010, Rappelz Epic 6.3: Resurrection brought one of the most impactful additions in the game’s history — ethereal equipment. Combined with the Battlefield, three new pets, set bonuses for legacy gear and a continuation of the main story scenario, this Epic reshaped how players approached progression and PvP alike.
Story, Systems and a New Era of Equipment
Epic 6.3 continued the pattern established across the 6.x series — each update building meaningfully on the last. But Resurrection had an ace up its sleeve that set it apart: the introduction of ethereal equipment, a progression system that would define high-end Rappelz gear for years to come.
The Epic also brought the main game scenario back into focus, continuing the narrative threads introduced in earlier Epics and giving players fresh story content alongside the mechanical additions.
Ethereal Equipment — A New Progression Tier
The arrival of ethereal equipment in Epic 6.3 was one of the most significant gear system changes in Rappelz history. Ethereal gear introduced a new tier of equipment that sat above standard gear — providing a meaningful upgrade target for players who had exhausted the previous progression ceiling.
Importantly, this system also provided a safety net that had been missing from the game since the early Epics — where upgrading gear was a costly, all-or-nothing affair. Ethereal equipment changed that relationship between players and their gear permanently.
The Dune Breeze, Black Claw and White Dragon sets — already existing gear families — received set bonuses and benefit bonuses in this Epic, activated when a full set is equipped. This retroactively added depth to gear that players already owned and gave collectors a new reason to chase complete sets.
The Battlefield
Epic 6.3 introduced the Battlefield — a dedicated PvP zone that gave competitive players a structured arena for large-scale conflict. The Battlefield became one of the most-used endgame zones for organised guilds and competitive players, and its arrival marked Rappelz’s most serious commitment to PvP content up to that point.
Combined with the PvP rebalancing of Epic 5.2, the Battlefield gave the competitive community a proper home and a reason to optimise their builds specifically for player-versus-player combat.
Three New Pets
The dark counterpart to the White Unicorn — one of Rappelz’s most visually striking pets, making its debut in Resurrection.
The light counterpart introduced alongside the Black Unicorn — together they became two of the most coveted pets in the game.
An evolved form of the Genie introduced in Epic 6.2 — the Mystical Genius brought enhanced magical abilities and a more imposing presence.
Monster Rebalancing and Special Skills
Epic 6.3 carried out a targeted rebalancing of the monster roster. The creatures of the Lost Island became significantly harder — reflecting the island’s identity as challenging high-level content. Meanwhile, Toktokkie, Furion and Tamahakhan were made easier to defeat, likely to keep them viable farming targets rather than frustrating obstacles.
A new global mechanic was also introduced: from level 40 onwards, special monsters gained the ability to use status effect skills — including dizziness, fear and poisoning. The success rate was kept deliberately low, but the addition made the open world feel more unpredictable and dangerous for players who had previously steamrolled through content.

Why Epic 6.3 Still Matters
Ethereal equipment is still part of Rappelz today. The Battlefield shaped how guilds organised their PvP rosters. The Black and White Unicorns remain among the most recognisable pets in the game’s history. These are not footnotes — they are central pillars of modern Rappelz.
Epic 6.3 closed out the 6.x series on a high note — leaving the game in a richer, more complex state than it had ever been before. Everything that came in the 7.x Epics was built on the foundation Resurrection laid here in March 2010.
