Rappelz Epic 2 — Absolute Creature: The Great Reboot (2006)
Released: 25 October 2006 | Category: Rappelz History
If Epic 1 — Rappler Creer was the origin story, then Rappelz Epic 2: Absolute Creature was the moment everything changed. Released on 25 October 2006, Epic 2 was not a simple update — it was a full reboot of the game world, introducing sweeping changes that would define Rappelz for every version that followed.
A redesigned world map, a brand new playable race, a capital city, and an entirely new game interface — Epic 2 is where modern Rappelz truly begins.

A Full Reboot, Not Just a Patch
Epic 2 represented something rare in MMO history — a developer willing to tear down and rebuild. The world map was completely redesigned, and the game shed its original identity along with the domain rapplercreer.com, which remained in use until 2006 before transitioning fully to the Rappelz name.
The changes were not cosmetic. The structure of the game world, the balance of races, the interface — all of it was rebuilt from the ground up. For players of the original Rappler Creer, Epic 2 was both familiar and entirely new.
The Arrival of the Gaia
The most significant addition in Epic 2 was the Gaia — the third playable race, joining the Deva and the Asura. Nature-attuned and powerful, the Gaia completed the three-race triangle that has defined Rappelz ever since.
The Gaia race gives access to five master classes: Magus, War Kahuna, Marksman, Beast Master and Overlord. The addition of these classes dramatically expanded the diversity of playstyles available and established the 15-class system that players on our server enjoy today.
If you want to play a Gaia class on a stable Epic 9.6 server, you can register and play today on Rappelz Tournament — no wipes, no P2W, running since 2016.
Gaia Master Classes (introduced Epic 2)
| Class | Role |
|---|---|
| Magus | Nature magic DPS |
| War Kahuna | Melee / support hybrid |
| Marksman | Ranged physical DPS |
| Beast Master | Pet-focused damage dealer |
| Overlord | Heavy melee / party buffer |
Rondo — The Capital of the World
Epic 2 introduced Rondo, the capital city of the Rappelz world and the social heart of the game. For millions of players over the following years, Rondo would become the place to trade, form parties, show off pets, and simply stand around watching the world go by.
The redesigned world map gave Rondo a central position, with the three races’ territories radiating outward from the capital — a geographical structure that reinforced the lore and encouraged cross-race interaction.
A New Interface — Used for Four Full Epics
Epic 2 also brought a complete overhaul of the game’s user interface. The new UI was clean, consistent, and clearly designed to support the expanded three-race world. It proved durable — this interface remained the standard all the way through to Epic 6.1: Navis Lamia, spanning four major Epics without significant change.
For veterans of that era, the Epic 2 UI is likely the most recognisable version of the game — the one that appears in most early screenshots and videos found online today.
Creatures Lost in the Reboot
The transition from Rappler Creer to Epic 2 was not without loss. Several creatures present in the original game did not survive the reboot. Notable among them:
- White Dragons — removed from the world entirely
- Astaroths — the original summoned demon, replaced by the modern system
- Wind Fairies and Forest Fairies — cut from the creature roster
- Ents — originally had their own dedicated card system; removed and later reintroduced under the standard pet card system
These removals reflect just how radical the Epic 2 overhaul was. The game that emerged was essentially a new product built on the same core engine.
The Sounds of Epic 2
One detail that often surprises returning players: the audio in Epic 2 was completely different from what the game sounds like today. The ambient tracks, combat sounds, and menu audio were all unique to this era — replaced in later Epics with the versions most players now associate with Rappelz.
Original footage capturing these sounds is archived on historyofrappelz.com — the definitive resource for Rappelz version history.

Why Epic 2 Still Matters
Nearly every feature that defines Rappelz today has its roots in Epic 2. The three-race system, the capital city, the pet card framework, the world map structure — all of it was established here in 2006.
When you log into a Rappelz server in 2026, you are still playing in the world that Epic 2 built. That is the measure of how important this update was.
