May 11, 2021 Tax disclosure Regarding Bora Coin Prize Delivery Official notification that winners must provide copy of Passport and Certificate of Residence to comply with South Korean withholding tax laws. Information collected: nationality, name, passport number, address. Retention period: 5 years.
Withholding tax deducted if required by tax treaty between winner’s country and South Korea.
“In order for us to provide you with the Bora Coins, we need to report to the authorities in regards to Withholding taxes. … If you do not agree to the above terms or do not provide us with the correct documents, we are afraid we cannot provide you with the prizes.”

⚠️ IMPORTANT TAX INFORMATION (OFFICIAL)

Winners of Bora Coin prizes were required to provide a copy of their Passport and a Certificate of Residence (or government-issued ID with address) to Rappelz for reporting to South Korean tax authorities. Withholding tax was deducted from prizes based on tax treaties. Failure to provide documentation resulted in prize cancellation. Personal data was retained for 5 years per Korean tax law.

“Collection of Privacy Data for Prize Reward Provision – Information collected: Copy of your Passport, Certificate of Residence. Purpose: Collecting nationality, Name, Passport number, confirmation of address in order to comply with the obligation to report for Withholding Tax to the Republic of Korea. Period of possession: 5 years in accordance with the Income Tax Act and Corporate Tax Act of the Republic of Korea.”
