Full Rappelz Epic Timeline › Epic 9.10 — King of Alcatraz
Released in early 2025, Rappelz Epic 9.10 — titled King of Alcatraz — is the most recent chapter in Rappelz’s history. The Alcatraz dungeon arrived with scalable difficulty, four new boss cards and a bonus reward system. Rank 8 Mithril accessories introduced a new enhancement tier reaching all the way to +15. Creature Transformation Potions gave pets a cosmetic and combat upgrade. The level cap rose to 260. And a sweeping class rebalance touched Berserker, High Priest, Knight of Light, Assassin, Night Hunter and more.
Rappelz Epic 9.10 — The Alcatraz Dungeon
The Alcatraz dungeon is the centrepiece of this update — a new instanced dungeon accessible from Marduka Watchtower, east of Rondo, after completing the “Delivery to Alcatraz” quest. Characters must be level 230 or above to unlock access. Before entering, players choose both the maximum number of participants (up to 8) and the difficulty level — giving groups the flexibility to tune the challenge to match their gear and composition. If a group is set to a cap of 2 and a third player enters, they are automatically removed from the instance.
Inside Alcatraz, four named bosses await: Bloodthirsty Beast Karmos, Dark Alchemist Saragorn, Reaper’s Shadow Necron and Butcher Vulcan. Each drops a corresponding Boss Card plus key crafting materials. The higher the difficulty selected, the better the chance of pulling rare loot. A unique bonus reward system also applies on final boss death — the higher the bonus number built during the run, the higher the probability of bonus drops alongside standard loot.
Monsters inside Alcatraz also drop Mithril Ingots directly — the material used to craft and enhance the new Rank 8 Mithril accessories. Mithril Ingots can also be obtained by dismantling any of the new accessories. If you are still leveling toward 230 to unlock this content, our leveling guide covers the fastest route.
New Boss Cards — Alcatraz
Each Alcatraz boss drops its own Boss Card and matching Collection Card. These represent some of the strongest boss cards added in the post-9.6 era — particularly Butcher Vulcan’s penetrating damage bonus and Saragorn’s attack multiplier. Note the significant trade-offs on both Saragorn and Karmos: they dramatically raise your offensive ceiling but lower survivability, which makes them higher-risk choices outside of DPS-focused builds. For a deeper look at how these fit into class-specific setups, see our class guides.
New Quest Chain — Defenders of Gaya
Unlocking the Alcatraz dungeon requires completing a twelve-quest story chain. The chain starts with Head of Security Kadan in Rondo at level 228+, and leads through Rondo’s mayor and guild officers before culminating in access to Alcatraz via Delivery to Alcatraz. A second run of quests with Mage Kael inside the Marduka Watchtower then opens up ongoing daily and weekly content.
- Defenders’ Tension (Head of Security Kadan)
- Threat to the Kingdom of Gaya (Head of Security Kadan)
- A Request for Help (Mayor Rondo)
- Mercenary Recruitment 1–3 (Officers of Resha, Ophelia and Leviathan Guilds)
- Good News (Officer of the Ces Guild)
- Delivery to Alcatraz (Head of Security Kadan) — unlocks the dungeon
- Clearing the Way 1–2 (Mage Kael)
- Vulcan’s Right Hand (Mage Kael)
- Vulcan’s Fate (Mage Kael)
In addition to this chain, Rappelz Epic 9.10 added a large number of new daily and weekly quests spread across level brackets from 160 to 230+. Lower-level players gain quests at Ancient Ruins (160+), Sky Fortress (190–210) and the Labyrinth (210+). High-level daily rewards include Mithril Ore, Shard of Necron’s Shadow, Alembic Flask of Saragorn and Bloodied Fang of Karmos — all materials feeding into the new accessory crafting system. Weekly quests reset every Monday at 6 AM server time.
Rappelz Epic 9.10 — Rank 8 Mithril Accessories
Rappelz Epic 9.10 introduced the first Rank 8 accessories in the game’s history: the Mithril Ring of Shadows, Mithril Earrings of Bloodlust, Mithril Necklace of Corruption and Mithril Chaos Stone. All require level 230 to equip. They can drop directly inside Alcatraz (low chance on high difficulty) or be crafted from boss materials:
- Mithril Ring of Shadows — 1× Shard of Necron’s Shadow + 50× Mithril Ore
- Mithril Earrings of Bloodlust — 1× Bloodied Fang of Karmos + 50× Mithril Ore
- Mithril Necklace of Corruption — 1× Alembic Flask of Saragorn + 50× Mithril Ore
- Mithril Chaos Stone — 1× Spark of Vulcan’s Soul + 50× Mithril Ore
Each accessory starts at Tier 1 (T1) with four random stat slots revealed after identification with a Philosopher’s Scroll. Random options are enhanced using Purified Mithril Ingots (10 Mithril Ingots each at Blacksmith Elara) and can be rerolled an unlimited number of times using Reroll Cubes (5 Mithril Ingots each). The accessories can be enchanted up to +10 using Attribute Essence, at which point they upgrade to Tier 2 (T2), unlocking a fifth stat slot and an extended enchantment path up to +15 with higher caps on all random option values. The accessories also carry a set bonus when multiple pieces are worn together.
Players who already have Heavenly Sapphire accessories from Epic 9.7 can transfer them directly to Mithril via the Sapphire Transfer option at Blacksmith Elara, using a Sapphire Transfer Scroll + 50 Mithril Ore + 1 Shard of Necron’s Shadow. Enchantments and awakenings carry over; random stats are reset to the Mithril standard. This avoids the cost of re-awakening from scratch. Rappelz Epic 9.10 — Creature Transformation Potions
One of the most creative additions in Rappelz Epic 9.10 is the Creature Transformation Potion — an item that changes the visual appearance of a summoned pet for one hour while providing a passive combat bonus. The buff grants +5% Physical Attack and Magical Attack and has no expiry date on the potion itself. Nine aura types exist, each tied to a monster category: Beast, Aina, Spirit, Angel, Devil, Mecha, Dragon, Undead and Mortal. To match the correct aura to your pet, check the creature’s type — for example, an Angel-type creature such as Hector requires the Mortal Aura.
Aura drop rates from matching monster types are very low, so farming them takes time. Once you have an Aura, the creation process for the potion works as follows:
- Farm the matching Creature Aura from the appropriate monster type — drop rate is very low
- Enchant a Stage 5 Pet with the Creature Aura — 50% success rate
- The Stage 5 Pet is consumed whether the attempt succeeds or fails — use C-Protect to prevent the pet’s destruction on failure
- On success: receive the Creature Transformation Potion — freely tradeable until first use, then bound to character
- To activate: select your summoned creature and double-click the potion. The one-hour transformation buff begins immediately
The potion has unlimited uses and never expires. The Creature Transformation system combines cosmetic customisation with meaningful combat value — a design philosophy that Rappelz has been building toward across the post-9.6 era. For a guide to building the strongest pet setups, see our Rappelz pet guide.
Class Rebalancing in Rappelz Epic 9.10
The rebalance patch accompanying Rappelz Epic 9.10 was one of the most extensive skill overhauls in recent memory. Six classes received significant changes — most with broad AoE expansions, higher damage ceilings and reduced cooldowns. Here is a summary of the key changes per class.
Berserker received the heaviest rework of the patch. Hellfire now hits up to 15 targets (was 4) in a 7m radius and applies from the target outward rather than from the caster. Blazing Flame doubles its attack count to 6 and gains weapon compatibility with Dual and One-Handed Axes. Thunder and Lightning becomes unlimited in max targets and fires 3 attacks per use with a dramatically reduced cooldown from 45s to 10s. Energy Bomb is transformed from a single-target skill into a 12-target AoE. The Berserker also gains 10 extra skill tree levels and the Power Energy / Life Energy cooldowns are each cut from 300s to 60s. Gaia Strike is now restricted to Axe-type weapons only.
High Priest sees Ring of Light’s attack delay drop from 0.9s to 0.3s with a major damage formula increase. Fast Healing’s cooldown falls to 2s (from 4s) with substantially higher healing values. The Miracle skill’s cooldown is reduced from 1800s to 120s — a transformative change for the class. Divine Voice is reworked into a continuous self-buff granting Intelligence, Magic Attack, Cast Speed, MP Recovery and Crit Power.
Knight of Light gains expanded AoE ranges across Divine Madness, Heavenly Judgment, Holy Cross, Shield Attack and Crushing Shield Strike — most going from 5m to 7–10m radius and from 5 to 10 max targets. Blade of Light’s Physical/Magic Attack boost doubles. Six new Master Class Progression levels are added. Blessing of Light is completely redesigned around Max HP, threat generation and Energy rather than raw damage reduction.
Assassin receives major AoE upgrades. Bloody Whirlwind loses its Veil of Darkness prerequisite, extends to 5m range, hits unlimited targets and stuns for 5s. Concentration’s cooldown falls from 600s to 15s. Deadly Dance becomes an AoE hitting 9 times. Evasion Mastery dodge increases from 2% to 5% per level. Untouchability doubles its Max HP and Dodge bonuses while removing the P./M. Attack penalty.
Night Hunter sees multiple skills converted to AoE (Poison Shot, Quick Shot, Poisoned Arrow, Piercing Arrow). Thunder Arrow and Restraining Arrow lose their shared cooldown restriction. Arrow’s Cry is redesigned around +10% increased damage for 30s instead of the attack speed lock mechanic. Crossbow Proficiency’s Physical Attack bonus jumps from 0.25% to 2% per skill level.
Lich and Swordsman receive targeted adjustments — Lich’s Tentacles of Darkness gains a larger radius, while the Swordsman’s Dual Strike cooldown is cut significantly and Defensive Stance gains Unity of Faith compatibility. For detailed per-class skill breakdowns visit our class guides.
All Changes in Rappelz Epic 9.10
Rappelz in 2025 — Still Building
Rappelz Epic 9.10 is the most recent chapter in a story that began in 2005 as Rappler Creer. Twenty years of updates, over 28 Epics, three playable races, 15 master classes and a level cap that has grown from 150 to 260 — Rappelz is still evolving. The history runs back through every major system shift: the early dungeon crawls of Epic 9.9 Twilight Underworld all the way to the foundations set in the earliest epics.
Rank 8 accessories raised the gear ceiling again. Creature Transformation Potions gave pets a new dimension. Alcatraz gave guilds and parties a fresh endgame challenge with a scalable difficulty system that rewards skill as well as gear. The class rebalance — especially for Berserker and Assassin — opened up new build paths. The game in 2025 is more complex, more customisable and more rewarding than at any point in its history.
And while official updates continue, private servers like Rappelz Tournament remain the most accessible way to experience the full breadth of what Rappelz Epic 9.10 has to offer — and what every prior Epic has built toward. New players can find everything they need to start in our beginner’s guide.
