Full Rappelz Epic Timeline › Epic 5.1 — Dragonic Age
Released 10 June 2008, Rappelz Epic 5.1: Dragonic Age was the first of two parts sharing the same name — a distinction that still confuses players today. It brought the Lost Island, the Cerberus, the return of the White Dragon, a new dungeon and the most sweeping overhaul of the pet system since Epic 4.
Two Parts, One Name
Rappelz Epic 5 is unique in the game’s history — it was split into two separate releases, both carrying the name Dragonic Age. This has caused confusion ever since, with players and historians often conflating the two. What this page covers is the first part: Epic 5.1, released in France on 10 June 2008, building directly on the pet revolution started in Epic 4.
Epic 5.1 was ambitious. It expanded the world with a new island, deepened the pet system further, introduced a dedicated endgame dungeon and added a range of quality-of-life improvements that changed how cities, monsters and quests all functioned.
The Biggest Pet Update Since Epic 4
If Epic 4 gave pets their skills and weapons, Epic 5.1 gave the system its depth. Four major pet changes landed simultaneously:
The iconic three-headed demon dog made its first appearance in Rappelz — one of the game’s most recognisable pets to this day.
The White Dragon was re-implemented after its removal in Epic 2 — returning in updated form as a tameable pet.
Pet cards could now drop from any monster in the game — dramatically expanding how players hunted for their ideal creatures.
The spells of most pets were completely redesigned — rebalancing creature combat contributions across the board.
Lost Island and the Dragon’s Den
Epic 5.1 expanded the Rappelz world with the Lost Island — an entirely new zone that gave high-level players fresh territory to explore and farm. It was a significant addition to the world map and a sign that nFlavor was thinking seriously about endgame content.
Alongside the new zone came the Dragon’s Den — a dedicated dungeon built for players approaching the level cap of 150 (before master classes were unlocked). The Dragon’s Den introduced its own unique equipment set, giving high-level players a concrete goal to work toward and a reason to push deeper into the dungeon.
The seat system was also changed in this Epic, and players gained the ability to attack at a range of 32 — a mechanical adjustment that had meaningful implications for certain classes and combat styles.
All Changes in Epic 5.1
Quality of Life Across the Board
Beyond the headline additions, Epic 5.1 made the game world feel more alive and better signposted. City guards gave towns a sense of order. Red nameplates on aggressive monsters made dangerous zones immediately readable at a glance. Higher quest rupy rewards made the early game less punishing for new players.
The requirement for empty vials to craft pet potions was a small but deliberate friction — keeping the economy around consumables active and preventing potion creation from becoming trivial.

Why Epic 5.1 Still Matters
The Cerberus introduced in Epic 5.1 remains one of the most iconic pets in Rappelz to this day. The Dragon’s Den set a template for endgame dungeon design that the game would follow for years. And the decision to allow cards to drop from any monster fundamentally changed how players approached farming — a change that shaped the game’s economy and progression loop permanently.
Epic 5.1 is where Rappelz started to feel like the game its long-term community fell in love with. Everything that followed was built on this foundation.
