The Epic Before the Master Classes

At the end of the Epic 6 era, Gala had made a significant announcement: master classes were coming — and they would arrive in Epic 7 Part 2. The community had also been told that Epic 7 would be divided into three parts. Epic 7.2 was therefore a known stepping stone — an update the community played through with one eye already on what was coming next.

That context matters, because Epic 7.2 tends to be underrated. While it was not the master class update everyone was waiting for, it introduced boss cards — which became one of the most important item categories in the entire game — and laid the groundwork for the equipment and pet systems that master classes would plug directly into.

Boss Cards — A Permanent Fixture of Rappelz Gear

The introduction of boss cards in Epic 7.2 was one of the most consequential additions in Rappelz’s mid-era history. Boss cards — dropped by major world bosses — provided powerful stat bonuses when socketed into equipment, and hunting specific bosses for their cards became one of the defining endgame activities of the game.

On private servers today, boss cards remain a central part of character optimisation. Players spend hours farming boss respawns, trading cards in the bazaar and theorycrafting optimal card combinations for their class. It all started here, in Epic 7.2.

New Pets — Kainen, Joker and Enny Rose

Kainen

A new permanent pet introduced in Epic 7.2 — available through standard taming and kept indefinitely.

Joker

The second new permanent pet — the Joker joined the roster alongside the Kainen as a long-term companion option.

Enny Rose

A temporary pet obtained through the Espoir quest line — not a permanent companion, but a notable part of the Epic 7.2 experience for players who completed the questline.

The Creature Farm

Epic 7.2 introduced the creature farm — a system that allowed players to raise and manage creatures in a dedicated environment. The concept was solid and well-designed, but in practice it was rarely used by the wider player base, remaining a niche feature rather than a mainstream activity.

Its low adoption is one of those interesting footnotes in Rappelz history — a feature that had genuine potential but never found its audience. The creature farm stands as a reminder that not every addition lands the way developers intend, regardless of the quality of the idea behind it.

Colonel Gear

A new tier of equipment — Colonel gear — arrived in Epic 7.2, notable for its powerful cubing bonuses that were exceptional by the standards of the time. Colonel gear gave high-level players a new gear target to pursue and set a precedent for the kind of equipment bonuses that would define progression in later Epics.

Why Epic 7.2 Still Matters

Boss cards alone would have been enough to earn Epic 7.2 its place in Rappelz history. They transformed the endgame loop, gave world bosses genuine strategic value and created an entire layer of the player economy around rare drops. Every boss farm you see on a private server today traces directly back to this update.

Epic 7.2 may have been sold as a minor update, but its legacy is anything but. It was the quiet Epic that changed how the endgame worked — and then stepped aside to let Epic 7.3 deliver the headline feature everyone had been waiting for.

Hunt Boss Cards on Epic 9.6

Boss cards introduced in Epic 7.2 are still central to progression on Rappelz Tournament. Epic 9.6, running since 2016 — no wipes, no P2W.
