Class Overview
Beast Master is Gaia’s STR-based physical pet class — where Overlord scales from INT, Beast Master scales from Strength. The two core passives create a direct feedback loop between player and pet stats: your STR transfers to your pets through Domestication, and your pets’ VIT transfers back to your own stats through Sanguine Bond. This means both player gear and pet quality simultaneously improve each other — a synergy that rewards investment in both directions.
Key distinction from Overlord: Beast Master and Overlord are both pet classes but invest completely differently. Beast Master = STR primary, physical damage. Overlord = INT primary, magic damage. Don’t mix stats between the two builds.
Important Passive Skills
These two passives define the Beast Master feedback loop — understanding them before choosing gear and pets matters significantly.
Max Level 10: Increases the character’s STR, VIT and INT by 20% of the creature’s Vitality. +2% per +1 skill level beyond max.
Max Level 10: Increases creature STR by 35% of the avatar’s STR, and creature INT by 35% of the avatar’s INT. +3.5% per +1 skill level beyond max.
The loop in plain terms: You invest STR → Domestication transfers 35% of that to pet STR/INT → pets deal more damage. Pet has high VIT → Sanguine Bond gives you 20% of that as STR, VIT and INT → you deal more damage and survive more. Both directions compound simultaneously — this is what makes Beast Master scale well with gear investment.
Active Skills
AoE damage + Damage over Time. Primary damage skill — greatly increased by Skill Cards. Invest in Skill Cards for this skill specifically. Cast on every pull before any other damage ability.
Skill Card priority: Blasting Rock Cut Skill Cards are your highest gear investment priority alongside Wave Cut.
Small AoE damage. Second primary skill alongside Blasting Rock Cut — greatly increased by Skill Cards. Rotate with Blasting Rock Cut for maximum sustained AoE output.
Skill Card priority: Equal priority to Blasting Rock Cut. Both skills define your damage ceiling — don’t invest in one without the other.
Single-target percentage defense debuff. Apply to bosses and priority targets before your damage rotation — the defense reduction benefits your pets’ damage output as well as your own skills.
Key Toggles — Always Active
Increases STR of character AND pets by 20% (+2% per +1 level, +1% per +1 Skill Card) at max level. Feeds directly into Domestication — higher STR from this toggle means more STR passed to pets via the passive. Always keep on. Invest Skill Cards in this toggle alongside Blasting Rock Cut and Wave Cut.
Creature takes a percentage of damage dealt to the character. Essential survival tool — without Pass Damage active, Beast Master takes full hits directly and dies very fast. Keep this on at all times, especially in content where you pull multiple mobs.
Gives pets +80 Luck and +25 Critical Power. Passive enhancement to pet combat stats — keep active at all times for sustained pet DPS improvement. The Luck bonus also benefits drop rates in farming content.
Belt Pet Stats & Setup
Priority Belt Stats
Primary damage stat — feeds Domestication at 35% to pets
Also feeds Domestication at 35% to pets for magic component
HP survival — also fed back by Sanguine Bond from pet VIT
Target: exactly 959. Points above 959 are wasted stats.
⚠️ Attack Speed plateau: 959 is the hard cap for useful attack speed. Any attack speed above 959 gives no benefit — it is completely wasted stat budget. Build your belt and buff setup to hit exactly 959, then redirect remaining investment to STR, INT or VIT.
Belt Setup
Key Tips
Invest Skill Cards in both Blasting Rock Cut and Wave Cut equally. Both are listed as primary damage skills that are greatly improved by Skill Cards. Maxing one and neglecting the other leaves significant damage on the table — treat them as a pair.
Apply Log Split before every boss engagement. The percentage defense debuff benefits your pets’ attacks, not just your own skills. A debuffed boss takes more damage from all sources — your entire DPS contribution goes up when this is active.
Unity of Force Skill Card investment is worth it. The toggle provides +1% per +1 Skill Card on top of its base +20% STR to character and pets. Since Unity of Force feeds Domestication, every extra percent here compounds through the entire passive chain — one of the highest-return Skill Card investments for Beast Master.
Choose summoned pets with high VIT for Sanguine Bond returns. Sanguine Bond gives you 20% of your pet’s VIT as STR, VIT and INT. Stone Golem and White Dragon have very high VIT stats — they contribute meaningfully to your own stats through this passive, not just through their combat output.
Never build past 959 attack speed. This is listed explicitly in the guide for a reason — players repeatedly waste belt pet stats on attack speed beyond the plateau. Build your entire attack speed budget around hitting exactly 959. Measure it in-game with buffs active before finalizing your belt setup.
