Full Rappelz Epic Timeline › Epic 9.7 — Sky Fortress
After Epic 9.6 closed Gala Lab’s official update history in 2019, the story of Rappelz did not end. Epic 9.7: Sky Fortress arrived in January 2022 — bringing a new aerial zone to explore, new enemies and bosses to defeat, the Luciad Medal system and proof that the Rappelz world still had room to grow.
Rappelz Lives On
When Gala Lab released Epic 9.6 in March 2019, many players assumed the game’s update history was truly over. Three years later, Epic 9.7: Sky Fortress proved otherwise. The announcement was simple and direct: a new area to explore, new enemies and bosses to defeat, and new items to collect. The community that had kept Rappelz alive through private servers now had fresh official-style content to engage with.
A Moderator Team livestream on January 16 at 21:00 UTC+1 on Twitch gave players their first preview — generating genuine excitement across the community for what felt like an unexpected gift.
The Sky Fortress Zone
The Sky Fortress introduced an entirely new area to the Rappelz world — an elevated zone with its own enemy roster, bosses and item drops. The zone was distinct from anything previously seen in the game’s geography, offering a fresh visual environment for high-level players who had exhausted the existing content landscape.
Drop rates in Sky Fortress were later increased in the Epic 9.8 update, reflecting ongoing tuning of the zone’s reward balance — a sign that the development cycle had become more responsive and iterative than the multi-year gaps between earlier Epics.
The Luciad Medal System
Epic 9.7 introduced the Luciad Medal system — a new progression mechanic tied to the Sky Fortress content. Key details established in 9.7 and refined in subsequent patches:
| Protection/Blessing of Luciad | Obtained from Explorer Sally — lasts 60 minutes |
| Luciad Medal exchange | 1 Luciad Medal = 30 Signs of Forgotten Gods (Explorer Milly) |
| Luciad Medal tradeable | Yes |

Why Epic 9.7 Matters
Epic 9.7 proved something important: Rappelz is not a dead game. Three years after the last official update, a new Epic arrived and the community showed up for it. The Sky Fortress became an active farming zone, the Luciad Medal system added a new economy layer, and the game kept moving forward.
It also established a new rhythm for Rappelz updates — shorter gaps, more iterative patches, and a community that was actively engaged in shaping what came next. Three more Epics would follow in rapid succession: 9.8, 9.9 and 9.10.
